Travel

We know that a lot of you will be making the trip to Hawke’s Bay for the first time, so see below for travel tips!

Flights & Transport

If flying internationally, it is easiest to fly into Auckland or Wellington airports. You will then need to book a domestic flight into Hawke’s Bay Airport (Napier).

We recommend booking a hire car for your time in the Bay, as there is so much to see and do in the area and this is the easiest mode of transport. Alternatively you can book taxis, however they are not as readily available as in the big cities - so we recommend booking in advance, especially if booking to and from the farm.

The airport is about a 30 minute drive from Havelock North, and there is no Uber service available in Hawke’s Bay.

Wedding Day Transport

We have a couple of buses organised to collect guests from Havelock North accommodations on the wedding day. These will take you to and from the farm which is a 30 minute drive away. Please RSVP for this if you would like a seat.

Driving

If driving from Havelock North & surrounds, the wedding venue (Ohutu Farm) is located at 761 College Road, Ōtāne.

You will want to get onto State Hwy 2, and drive south towards Waipukurau/Wellington for 20 minutes. College Road is a right turn almost immediately after you pass Pukehou School (Rikke’s old primary school) on your right. Drive for about 10 minutes up College Road. The entrance to the farm will be sign posted on your left, just before the Argyll/College Road intersection. There is a long driveway, drive all the way up to park.

Accommodation

For the out-of-towners, we recommend booking accommodation in Havelock North. It’s a 30 minute drive from the farm, and a great base, with plenty of cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby, and some amazing wineries a short drive away.

Alternatively, Te Awanga/Haumoana both have nice rental options, just note that they are further afield, and you will need to get taxis to and from the bus in Havelock North (be sure to book in advance).
